Alina Gîrbea

Alina works as a Legal Counsel at ICTRecht, where she handles a wide range of legal matters in the fields of data, AI and IT law.

Alina completed her bachelor's degree in Global Law at Tilburg University, adding an extra year of Law courses to obtain her civiel effect (a Dutch qualification allowing her to enter the legal profession). During her bachelor's, she also spent a semester at the University of Turin in Italy. She went on to complete her master's degree in Intellectual Property Law, Innovation and Technology at Utrecht University, writing her thesis on copyright protection in the context of training generative AI. While studying, Alina gained professional experience at Taylor Wessing (IP department), Hogan Lovells (Privacy & Cybersecurity department) and Bird & Bird (IP department).

After completing her master's, she spent three months travelling through Central and South America, where she honed her Spanish language skills (and her dance moves!).

Colleagues describe Alina as sociable, enthusiastic and a strong communicator. In her free time, she enjoys sports, painting, travelling and playing (board) games, with a particular soft spot for a round of Uno.
