I Chu Chao

I Chu works as Senior Legal Counsel at ICTRecht. She is an experienced lawyer with legal experience dating back to 2006, gained in both private practice and in-house roles.

She completed the Master’s degree in IT Law at the University of Amsterdam and started her career in private practice. After six years, she moved into the corporate sector as Legal Counsel and Compliance Officer at Makro Nederland, where she gained in-depth insight into commercial and business processes. In 2019, I Chu founded her own law firm, Chao Legal, focusing on IT law, intellectual property and privacy law. Thanks to her extensive and broad experience, she is well able to bridge the gap between business, legal and IT teams. She enjoys supporting organisations with practical, immediately applicable advice.

I Chu regularly delivers training courses for the ICTRecht Academy in the above areas of law. She is certified as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). In addition, I Chu is co-founder and director of the online legal training platform Legal Bytes, which is affiliated with ICTRecht.

Due to her international background and work experience, I Chu is well versed in multiple languages and cultures. She speaks at least four languages, including Wenzhounese, one of the many Chinese dialects. Wenzhounese people are known for their entrepreneurial spirit, a trait that is also characteristic of I Chu.
