Jan Joep Verwiel

Jan Joep works as Legal Counsel at ICTRecht. In this role, he advises on privacy, IT and AI-related legal matters, acting as Legal Counsel, Privacy Officer and Data Protection Officer. His expertise lies primarily in the healthcare and commercial sectors, where he supports organisations by translating complex issues into practical, immediately applicable advice.

Jan Joep completed both his Bachelor’s degree in Law and his Master’s degree in Intellectual Property Law, Innovation and Technology at Utrecht University. He is certified as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and a Certified AI Compliance Officer (CAICO). In recent years, Jan Joep has gained broad experience in privacy and IT law, both at law firms and at a large administrator of consultancy and secondment entities.

Driven and client-focused, Jan Joep approaches every challenge with commitment. In his spare time, he can often be found at the swimming pool or on the golf course, where he does not always manage to hide his competitive streak.
