Thijs Demoed

Thijs is Legal Counsel within the Data & Privacy section at ICTRecht. He focuses on legal issues at the intersection of technology, law and society. He advises organisations on, among other things, the GDPR, the AI Act and other digital legislation, translating complex rules into practical solutions that fit the client’s context.

After starting his career as a data analyst, Thijs deliberately transitioned into the legal domain. He has extensive experience in various legal and compliance roles within the public sector, where he worked on data protection in both advisory and supervisory capacities. With a master’s degree in Internet, Intellectual Property and ICT Law, and certifications including CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT and CAICO, he has specialised in privacy and AI regulation.

Thijs is analytically sharp and strategically minded, combining legal precision with pragmatic applicability. He thrives on complex matters, as well as on clear language and tangible impact. When he is not working on a legal analysis, he is likely out running, braving the cold with breathing exercises, or immersed in his collection of obscure film soundtracks on vinyl.
