As Legal Counsel, Willem advises organisations on GDPR compliance, data and cybersecurity, and AI regulation. He has a knack for translating complex legal frameworks into practical, actionable advice. His work includes drafting policy documents such as retention policies, preparing privacy documentation including records of processing activities and privacy and cookie notices, handling data breaches, and answering a wide range of ad hoc questions.

During his Master's in Technology Law & Innovation, he completed specialist advisory assignments for leading organisations, including the Dutch Data Protection Authority, RDW, Deloitte, and Microsoft.

With his Dutch-Hong Kong background, Willem has a particular affinity and interest in the role of data in driving innovation and technology. His Master's thesis focused on the interplay between data protection and competition law in the context of gaming data. This background makes him adept at comparing international case law and legislation, and particularly skilled at translating complex regulation into workable, practical solutions that leave room for innovation.
