Susan Horst

Susan joins ICTRecht's healthcare team as Senior Legal Counsel. Within this team, she advises clients on the legal issues they encounter every day, from privacy and data sharing to contracts, compliance and everything else that comes their way.

After completing her degree in health law, Susan built up broad practical experience. She started as a health law lawyer at the sector association for mental healthcare institutions, where she got to know the sector, ministries and regulators from the inside. She then moved to a large mental healthcare institution, where she worked successively as a health law lawyer, in-house counsel and privacy officer. This combination means she now knows the healthcare sector inside out and understands how legal issues play out on the work floor.

She prefers to describe herself as a generalist with a specialism and a passion for healthcare. She switches effortlessly between different areas of law and actively seeks out that breadth to support clients in a comprehensive way. Her practical experience translates into advice that is not only legally sound, but also workable for the client who needs to act on it the next day. She recently completed the CAICO programme.

Colleagues recognise Susan by her enthusiasm, curiosity and proactive attitude, and by the fact that she is always up for a good laugh. She channels that same energy in her personal life, throwing herself into learning a new sport or musical instrument. She finds diving in at the deep end challenging, enjoyable and it keeps her sharp.
